2014 Bucket List: a 1/3rd year update!

Wowza, can you believe the year is already 1/3 of the way over? Where the heck is 2014 going and why is it in such a rush?!

I thought it would be fun to do a bucket list update to see what we have accomplished so far, and what we need to work on the other 2/3rds of the year!

1. Lose 30+ pounds. Can we just... not talk about this? I have lost some, and not gained, so that's a plus. Still a long way to go, though. After seeing candids of me from Addie's party, I know something needs to be done.

2. Start saving for our DISNEY TRIP! Look, guys! We slapped a Mickey Money sticker on an UTZ pretzel rod jar and started saving! Woohoo! I'm pretty sure the amount we have in there will only buy us a couple rounds of Dole Whips, but it's a start!

{you can customize your own Mickey Money sticker for your upcoming Disney trip in this Etsy shop}

3. Learn to coupon. Why is it so hard to remember to get the Sunday paper? I also need a printer.

4. Make my marriage wonderful. A work in progress. We have discussed our wants and needs and we are both putting in effort to make our marriage kick ass. :)

5. Blog more. I'm coming up with some kind of schedule/routine (one that doesn't include back-blogging 10 entries in a weekend. Ooooops)

6. Declutter/Get 100% ORGANIZED. We got some totes and baskets to organize our hall closet. I have gone through the girls' dresser and removed things that don't fit. We can now see the floor in the master bedroom closet. It's coming along!

7. Fill picture frames and DECORATE. Uh yeah, haven't even touched this one yet.

8. Go on more day trips. We actually have a pretty full few weeks coming up! Boston Children's Museum on Saturday.  I took the girls on an impromptu trip to an indoor playground yesterday on our way to go grocery shopping. We'll be hitting up another one next week. A fun "farmland" in a few weeks when they open. If only the weather would warm up a bit!

9. Make family photo albums. Again, haven't really touched any pictures.

10. Run my first 5k. Oy. With Addison being a stage 5 clinger and getting awful separation anxiety when I get up to pee, I can't even bring her to the gym's daycare. Hoping she grows out of this stage... and fast!

Well.. it's a start. Ha.

Addison's First Birthday Party

I have been meaning to write about Addison's first birthday party and I just couldn't seem to find the time. I feel like I have been so busy lately, I barely get a minute to sit down at my computer! Addison is finally starting to walk, and her favorite thing to do is climb on the couch if she notices that we have walked away or turned our backs for 5 seconds.

I decided on an Olivia the Pig theme, since she loves toting around Aubrey's Olivia stuffed pig (and, let's be honest, I freaking love the tv show and books).

I made Addie's tutu, and got the girl's shirts from my good friend Sheena at The Stitchuation and I am in love with how they turned out!

I am so extremely proud of how the smash cake came out. I know it's super simple but I just adore it!

{Rule of life #63: If I, Olivia, were President, I would make cupcakes a main food group}

{Olivia has lots of her own "rules of life" and I wanted to incoporate that into the party. Most of them are pretty spot on!}

Each of our guests took home a Valentines card, a wallet size photo from Addie's one year shoot, and a homemade sugar cookie!

We went with a lot of red, since it's Olivia the Pig's favorite color and ties in nicely with Valentines Day!

I made the fabric garland and hung monthly photos so everyone could see how much our little lady has grown!

We loved sharing our baby girl's special day with our friends and family, and she had so much fun opening presents and seeing everyone. I still can't believe a year has passed since Addie Grace'd us with her presence! (see what I did there?)

My baby is one!

Addie Grace,

Where do I even begin? How has it been a year since I held you in my arms and stared at that beautiful, squishy face?

You are such an amazing, perfect fit to our family. Watching you play with your sister and follow her around the house fills my heart with so much love. You're two peas in a pod.

You are, by far, the happiest baby I've ever met. That toothy grin lights up everyone's faces wherever we go.

Those thighs. Need I say more?

The mullet. Come on, Addie. This is not the 80's.

Today we celebrate you, my beautiful baby. You are living proof that everything happens for a reason. God truly did bless the broken road that led me to you. I prayed every night for you, and I never could have dreamed that He would send someone as amazing as you to make our family whole.

I can't wait to see what your future holds. Dream big, and know that we will always love and support you wherever this life takes you.

Happy birthday, my little sunshine. I love you more than you could ever know.

We have a new niece!

I had been looking forward to this past weekend because I was excited to celebrate our 5 year anniversary. Little did we all know, something WAY more eventful was about to take place!!

Say hello to the newest addition to our family! Our beautiful niece, Lillian was born on Saturday evening at a little over 27 weeks gestation. She clocked in at 1lb 12oz and a little over a foot long, but man, this girl is a FIGHTER and she's kicking ass and taking names. In her short 4 days, she has gotten her breathing tube removed, the IVs taken out of her arm, and her momma got to snuggle her for the first time on Tuesday!

We haven't been able to meet her yet since she is still so small and they are being super cautious due to flu season, but my God. I can't even describe the amount of love I have for this little lady already. I worked my fingers numb crocheting a cozy blanket for her over the past couple of days and the spoiling has already started. Aubrey got in on the Lily-lovin' too and drew her a picture! I can't get over her dogs. (and the flowers, sun, and of course Aubrey, Lily & Addie playing)

Today I got the honor of a lifetime when Lillian's daddy (my brother in law) asked if I would still want to babysit when Christina has to go back to work. Christina & I had already discussed me watching her since I don't work during the day (2 days before Lily's arrival, as a matter of fact), but I wasn't sure if that would still be happening due to her being so early. I don't know, something about HIM telling me that it was his idea to ask me in the first place just made my heart so happy and I felt so incredibly honored that they trust me with this little miracle. I can't wait until she's healthy and can be transferred to a closer hospital (right now she's 2 hours away), and even more excited for when she's strong enough to come home. Our family has truly been blessed. Words can't describe how much I am looking forward to seeing her grow.

Auntie loves you, little lady <3

Pneumonia, Frozen and the Super Bowl.

We have had quite a week. Last Monday, Addison was diagnosed with Fifth's Disease and bronchitis. After days of the bare minimum in wet diapers and a fever that wouldn't quit, I made an appointment with her pediatrician on Thursday. After reviewing x-rays and looking her over, pneumonia and a bad ear infection were added to the list. Poor kiddo :(

The doctor prescribed an antibiotic and told me to call back if her wet diapers don't pick up. Thursday night sucked, because I had to go to work and she was SO miserable. All I wanted to do was stay home and snuggle her all night.

Friday morning, nothing had changed so another call was put in to the pediatrician and she got us right back in. She noticed a lot of wheezing, which she hadn't noticed the day before. She sent us home with a nebulizer treatment and a lung steroid. I got some Pedialyte to make popsicles and we spent our whole night giving her TLC with plans to follow up with the doctor on Sunday morning.

I thought the nebulizer treatments would be torture because she screamed the whole time I was giving her the first one in the doctor's office. But once we were home and in a familiar environment, she has been fine! She even falls asleep through most of them.

On Saturday, I woke up and decided to take Aubrey to the movies to see Frozen. She has been SO GOOD during the week when all I could do is lay on the couch with Addison and being such a big help grabbing me the thermometer, tissues, etc. I wanted to treat her to something special, and it had been a couple months since we've been to the movies so she was so excited to go! We are probably the last people on earth to see the movie so I'm sure this review is nothing new, but it was such an adorable movie. I loved that it was based on two sisters, and that instead of a prince swooping in to save the day, it was the little sister.

On Sunday morning, we woke up and Addison was a whole new person. She was HAPPY again. She kept rolling over while I got her dressed. It had been a week since she did that so I knew she was finally feeling better. The doctor said she looks great. Still a little concerned with the wheezing, so we will be going back again on Friday.

I even took her 11 month picture (2 weeks late, but who's counting?)

After we left the doctor's appointment, we grabbed some food for the Superbowl. Aubrey & I had fun baking some brownies! The Patriots weren't playing so we didn't really get too into it, but I did have fun watching Bruno Mars killing it on the halftime show. I was disappointed in the commercials this year, but whatev.

I'm definitely looking forward to a low-key week!

Our run-in with Fifths Disease

The past couple of days have been awful. Addie has not been herself. She has been clingy, tired, miserable, and would not touch her food.

Sunday night she had a fever that we brought down with a bath. She slept like crap all night. At 8:00 Monday morning, it had been 12 hours since her last wet diaper. I called the doctor and they suggested waiting another hour and bringing her in to the emergency room if nothing happened. Keith came home from work and we tried pushing fluids, but she wanted no part of it. So off to the ER we went.

They did some chest x rays and found a lot of mucus in her lungs.. but no pneumonia, thank God. They took bloodwork to see if they could see anything. She was diagnosed with Fifths Disease and bronchitis.  I had never heard of Fifths Disease before so that freaked me the hell out, but I guess it's pretty common. It can cause a rash on the face, arms and legs and just makes kiddos feel miserable. We went home and let her sleep on us for the next 9 hours.

She was still refusing fluids and was so hot and wouldn't move, so we called the doctor again to get her advice. She sent us back to the emergency room. I took her by myself since we didn't wnat to drag Aubrey out of the house into the cold at 11:00 at night.

We finally got her temperature down at the hospital and got her to suck on a popsicle for a little bit, and she finally took a bottle. She did a complete 180 by the time we were getting discharged around 3:00.

I checked on Aubrey before going to sleep and she was burning up and was crying for some medicine. So now I am dealing with TWO kiddos with this awful virus. We woke up this morning and made a quick run to Target before lunch for some more medicine, tissues, and other necessities and Addie has been sleeping ever since. Praying that the alternating Tylenol and Motrin and some TLC will get these kiddos back to their old selves very soon. <3
